My name is Vyacheslav Maslyukov. I am a nuclear physicist and a practitioner in radiation safety.
My professional focus is protecting people and the environment from ionizing radiation. Today I live with my family in Türkiye and take part in building the country’s first nuclear power plant — a large, technologically complex international project.
My career started at Tomsk Polytechnic University and continued in real engineering work. I helped shape the radiation monitoring system of the PIK research reactor at the Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute, then built and led the radiation monitoring laboratory for VVER-1200 units at Leningrad NPP-2.
I prefer a systems approach. For me, radiation safety is not a checklist of formal requirements, but engineering logic — from risk analysis to practical implementation.
In my work I:
- assess whether design solutions provide adequate radiation protection;
- justify decisions before regulatory authorities;
- build radiation monitoring systems from scratch — from procedures and methods to equipment and staff training;
- set up processes that work in operation, not only on paper.
This blog is a space for professional conversation.
Here I share practical experience, analyse real scenarios, unpack mistakes and explain complex topics in clear engineering language.
My goal is to make radiation safety a matter of conscious professional judgment — not formal compliance alone.
